Ultraman Zearth 2

Pre Review.

Yeah, I think I believe in Zearth supremacy now, it's genuinely a good film and sequel despite being a parody, you guys should go watch, its barely an hour long. LIke usual, spoilers ahead.

The Review.

This film, was in my opinion, a huge step up from the first Zearth. Toned down the comedy, got more serious, yet remained a lovable film.

Mydo.

I personally enjoyed the two new members of Mydo, I thought the captain was cooler and the guy with the laptop vest much more bearable than the guy with the mole on his face, though I found the scene where he forced the ai girl to answer how to defeat shadow.

The Kanegon was my personal favorite member of the team, they were goofy and sweet and wasn't an annoying presence throughout the film. And I personally liked seeing the Kanegon do martial arts (Taekwondo I think?) with the rest of the dojo and Katsuto.

Ultraman Shadow

I really enjoyed Shadow more than the two kaiju from the first film, and I really liked his moveset, from the beam attack to his punch thing that gave Zearth a red eye (Ultra equivalent of a black eye) and I just found him cool in general.

While his design is just a color swap, I did enjoy his design just as much as Zearth himself, it's very simple and doesn't try to hard to look like a evil Ultra, with just swapping the red and white for black and yellow respectively.

Zearth/Katsuto.

I think that personally, he was much better in this film. I loved his arc from the first film where he was ok with the dirt, but I personally find his rfc in the 2nd film much better. He loses a fight miserably and is way too scared to fight again, and he ends up going through a martial arts class to believe in himself and I was unironically hyped when he finally kicked the volleyball on the string and was told he was ready.

Watching Ultraman Zearth fight Shadow was just amazing, he kicked his ass and I definitely gained some respect for him in the end. The cherry on top was watching everyone chant his name during the beam on beam sequence and his theme song playing.

Lady Alien Benzen

A much less notable villain compared to the male one in the first film, and overall she doesn't do a whole bunch outside of looking cool and kidnapping a few cities worth of people with the mind control beam, and she ends up not even fighting Zearth so that was definetly a let down for me.

Final Verdict.

A genuinely good and lovable comedy film that improved itself from the first in nearly every way it possibly could, with a good message and an alright story, its definitely a 8.5-9/10 for me. And for a film only around an hour and six minutes, it took roughly an hour and ten to twenty minutes to finish.

That's all for today and just a friendly reminder.

Just. Be. Ultra!
